It's been a while but it's because we finally "hit the wall". The new baby euphoria that carried us through the sleeplessness started to wear off and fatigue totally hit--and hard. We've spent the last 2-2 1/2 days trying to sleep when he does and trying to find our rhythm. Then since he decided that he had just had it all together with the breastfeeding-pumped milk in a bottle too, we had to do a hard quick switch over to totally formula which is making the poor little guy very constipated! We've been doing the water and karo syrup thing which is helping a little but it's slow. At least he doesn't have the terrible belly pains now. His bilirubin kept going down and his color is much better now. Luckily we didn't have to do the heliotherapy. I think just getting the formula regularly was enough.
We are definitley learning what his needs are and learning that we need to tend to our own too. For those of you who know me, I didn't even shower yesterday! Imagine that. I couldn't tell you the last time that happened. And it's not unusual to eat breakfast at 2 in the afternoon. It's amazing how much time you spend tending to their needs and just gazing into their perfect little faces. Jase is doing awesome too. He's pretty pumped that he gets to be home for all of the college basketball games. Lauers first words will be "foul" or "3 pointer. Dogs are doing very well too. Only problem is barking when someone comes to the door or up the driveway. The baby ignores it pretty well but it's tough when one of us is trying to catch a few zzz's.
Otherwise things are going pretty well for just being home a little over a week and as soon as we catch up on our sleep and get into a little better schedule/rhythm, we'll start having visitors and taking him out to visit. Thanks for thinking of us and sending us your well wishes and love.
Miss, Jase, and Lauer
